    Being able to market yourself within your company has a direct impact on your ability to get the jobs and compensation you want. Many women assume that their boss or HR will take care of their career paths, their yearly raises, and their professional development. Not true. Today’s managers are busier than ever and complain about the lack of time for professional development and mentoring of their employees. This workshop will help you shift your thinking and give you tools to become your own “self advocate”within your company. Come learn about the unspoken rules of advancement. Take part in interactive exercises that will help you navigate within your company or industry. Hear experts share key tips for negotiating salary and compensation issues. And finally, practice these new techniques with other dynamic women in technology.

    Mary Beth Schoening is currently an independent marketing and strategy consultant and a national speaker on the topics of women’s leadership, and work/life balance. Recently, Mary Beth was a Vice President of Marketing for an Internet start up focused on women. She was also co-founder of WorkVision a company that advises corporations on how to attract, retain and advance women. Her work allowed her to interview and survey many women on issues of interest to professional women.

    Prior to WorkVision, Mary Beth held the role of Director of Strategic Alliance Marketing for Lotus/IBM until 1998. While at Lotus, Mary Beth founded W.I.L.L. - Women Impacting Lotus through Leadership, whose charter was to identify key issues for women, and to recommend initiatives for advancing women. Mary Beth was the co-founder of the job share program at Lotus and job shared for 10 years. She was one of the first 100 employees at Lotus Development Corporation where she launched over a dozen new products, including Lotus 1-2-3. She also worked with leading technology companies to structure global marketing campaigns, joint business development initiatives and channel programs especially targeting new and emerging markets.

    Mary Beth is the Committee Chairperson for Leadership Development for Women in Technology International (Boston chapter). She is the Program Director for “Technology Transitions” Peer Mentoring Program funded by the Department of Labor, Women’s Bureau. Mary Beth co-founded the Massachusetts SouthCoast Technology Council in 2001. She is a member of the Research and Innovation Task Force for the Women’s Educational and Industrial Union.
